Stab's rp system sheet
System Overview

introduction
Welcome to my fuckin' random GMing style-system-thing! I run a lightweight, narrative-focused system inspired by Blades in the Dark with a mix of OSR-style randomness. The focus is on story, character choice, and consequences that deepen your RP rather than restrict it. Dice rolls only come into play when your actions impact the world, other characters, or NPCs -- otherwise, roleplay flows freely.
Players are given a bonus of some sort, depending on the session, which can include rerolls or an additional +1 or +2 bonus to a roll of their choice to keep things fun and flexible.
I allow unlimited group rolls to encourage and promote collaboration.Sessions are often timed, and when the clock runs out, something risky will happen... But instead of sidelining your character, I give you fun (I hope) homework.: you'll be invited to shape the outcome through writing or gpose. Whether it's a street brawl, a brush with the Brass Blades, or getting hauled off by Temple Knights, consequences are a storytelling opportunity, not a punishment. The goal is to have a good time, tell cool stories, and bring your character to life in new and unexpected ways even if the mission or opportunity doesn't succeed/go according to plan.. And, most importantly, without circumventing the reality of facing failure.

Basics
Rolls
➔ action rolls d6 system for action rolls
➔ dice table rolls other dice rolls with additional sides will be specifically requested during the session by the gm (me) if needed. these are for loot/curses/other varied non-PC actionable elements.
➔ team/group rolls everyone rolls, highest result from group is used. Unlimited use though requires each player to brainstorm how they work together OOCly + emote their part ICly.
➔ bonus for all players 1 reroll each player per session
Roll Translation
➔ failure = 1-2 means lore/story/session consequences + potential disadvantages like roll penalties
➔ success = 5-6 means lore/story/session benefits + potential advantages like roll bonuses
➲➲ See next section for Roll Chart to get more info.
➔ critical successes = two 6 results in a row (from single player or from two successive group rolls). example beneficial outcomes: 1 reroll for the individual or team, or +1/+2 to any base roll for team or individual
➔ critical failures = two 1 results in a row (from single player or from two successive group rolls). example beneficial outcomes: lose reroll if unused, or -1 to next 2 rolls (player choice).
➔ initiative is started only by the players though threats are telegraphed

Roll Chart

[0] | Full Failure | Action likely fails & there are stronger consequences |
[Two+ 6s] | Critical Success | Action succeeds Add'l benefits awarded |

F.A.Q.
I will give a brief run-down regarding any session specific rules or mechanics at the beginning of the session
Generally, OOC dialogue will be contained to PARTY chat and IC emotes will be in /say and /em
Rolls used are using /dice ## so the results are in party chat.
I will emote any telegraphs from the environment and NPCs
Players are welcome and even encouraged to ask for meta info in the session, and I will likely share it along the way. This is because the dice roll results determine the finality of any action and having all the meta info won't help prevent failures, nor will it improve chances for success.
Players are also encouraged (even moreso than the other encouragement!) to play their characters as true to their personality and history as possible rather than focusing on a successful outcome.
I am happy to GM in game with text only or in VC.
Feel free to ask anything anytime during the session.
I am absolutely hype to get to adapt any session to your character for RP purposes be it story/char development/etc. Reach out to me prior to a planned session and let's chat!
More information
The majority of this is based on John Harper's Blades in the Dark/Forged in the Dark TTRPG system. I've modified and further simplified my mutation while attempting to keep my favorite parts of GMing and playing BitD. Most critically, the narrative-first and collaborative elements, as well as the investigation/information gathering/planning -> score phases.I utilize roll tables (OSR standard, nothing fancy here) for my own references which I usually alter or create to fit the session's theme, scene, players, and environment.Click here to check out Blades in the Dark's official page.
